VICTORY TO VICTORY CHURCH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

October 1 through October 31, 2017

October 1

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Matthew 5:7 (NIV)

When you do your part to keep strife out of your relationships, you are honoring God.  And when you honor God, He will honor you. Sow seeds of mercy and kindness and watch your relationships improve!

October 2

but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.

Proverbs 14:21 (NIV)

Your actions speak much louder than your words.  You can say, “I love you and I care about you,” but we demonstrate true love by what we do.  If you see a need, meet the need!

October 3

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember Your miracles of long ago.

Psalm 77:11 (NIV)

That’s the way we are to live – with thoughts of God’s goodness, His mercy and His grace constantly on our minds!

October 4

he who holds his tongue is wise. Proverbs 10:19 (NIV)

Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to have the last word!  Pay attention to what you are feeling inside – it may not be necessary to say anything at all.  Don’t override the Holy Spirit when He is speaking to you!

 October 5

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

(Hebrews 11:1 NIV)

How many times has God told us that He wants to do something great in our lives; that we are going to be healthy and whole; that we are going to get out of debt, etc? We don't have to think about it or analyze it. Just believe and you will receive!

October 6

As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man. (Proverbs 27:19 NIV)

A person finds in others the same feelings, sentiments and passions he has himself.  Be merciful, be generous, be devout and seek to bring out these same characteristics in others!

October 7

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

(James 1:12 NIV)

Have you ever noticed that it is in the difficult times that we grow stronger? That’s when promotion and advancement occurs. We may not like it; stretching can sometimes be uncomfortable. But if we can keep the right attitude, we will come out better than we were before!

October 8

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize!

(1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV)

You are never too old to do something great for God. You can be sure, regardless of your age, that God has important plans for you to fulfill. Make plans to live every day vibrantly alive! Stay healthy, be productive! Run your race with gusto!

October 9

The light in the eyes [of him whose heart is joyful] rejoices the hearts of others, and good news nourishes the bones.

(Proverbs 15:30 AMP)

Enthusiasm is contagious. If you go into your workplace with a smile on your face, full of life, full of joy, full of victory, before long, you’ll rub off on others. And that whole place will come up to a higher level, thanks to you.

October 10

You were brought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

(1 Corinthians 6:20 NIV)

There is no way we can ever repay God for what it cost Him to save us. Jesus' death and the shedding of His blood is priceless! However, what we can do is to live for Him, tell the world about Him and honor Him in all we say and do!

October 11

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.

(1 Timothy 3:1 NIV)

The person who desires to advance the cause of Christ must be one who is ready to deny himself / herself; must be one who is ready to undergo hardship, if necessary, in order that souls can be saved. This is noble and approved by God.

October 12

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us…

(Ephesians 1:7, 8a NIV)

In Him, Jesus, we have redemption, we have forgiveness, we have mercy and we have grace. What we have in Jesus is unlimited, because it comes from God, who gave His all, His only begotten Son! We have everything we need – we only have to believe it and receive it!

October 13

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children (offspring) a reward from Him.

(Psalm 127:3 NIV)

Sometimes we get in such a hurry that we miss the miracles all along the way. Take time for your children. Look in their eyes every day and tell them how much you love them, how proud you are of them. Think of the joy and the fulfillment they bring you. That alone should be enough to cause us to get up each day with enthusiasm and thankfulness.

October 14

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”

(Jeremiah 31:3 NIV)

Think about it! God loves us with an unending, an eternal love – He draws us closer to Him with a kindness that never fails, a kindness we can count on, a kindness that is sure and certain! Trust that God is doing what is best for you in each and every situation you encounter!

October 15

I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

(Jeremiah 32:27 NIV)

Trust God! Believe that He has you in the palm of His hand and know that when it comes time for God to open a door, no man can keep it shut. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is too hard for God!!!

October 16

The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.

(Habakkuk 3:19 NIV)

At times it may seem that your enemies are powerful, but our God is All-Powerful!  God is the One who strengthens us and helps us over difficulties and oppositions. God is the One who makes us quick enough to outrun the enemy and gives us the victory! Praise His Holy Name!

October 17

Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to Your word.

(Psalm 119:37 NIV)

God tells us that we are not to look to the right or to the left, but we are to walk straight on in Him. No distractions, no side-shows. We are to guard against anything that would slow us down or attempt to stop us from fulfilling His plan and purpose for our lives. View everything you encounter through the Word of God and seek the Holy Spirit!

October 18

Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.

(1 John 2:10 NIV)

Live in the Light – love others, encourage others, build them up. Improve the lives of those God puts in your path and you will never stumble. Trust that God is at work in your life!

October 19

Everything is permissible for me” – but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me” – but I will not be mastered by anything.

(1 Corinthians 6:12 NIV)

The Apostle Paul wrote that he was allowed to do whatever he wanted, but he also acknowledged that not everything he could do was good for him. So he went on to say that he would not be subject to or under the control of anything.

We must have the same conviction. Rid yourself of those things that are not good for you, those things that want to control you. Be subject to God alone.

October 20

For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and the sons of his house after him to keep the way of the Lord and to do what is just and righteous, so that the Lord may bring Abraham what He has promised him.

(Genesis 18:19 AMP)

A real man’s masculinity is not diminished because he opens that car door for his wife. Being male doesn’t necessarily make you a man. Treating people with dignity and respect makes you a man. Taking care of your wife and family makes you a man. Watching over your children makes you a man. Speaking blessings over your wife and children - that’s being a real man.

October 21

The fear of the LORD leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.

(Proverbs 19:23 NIV)

Even in your times of greatest difficulty, even if the bottom falls out, you don’t have to be distraught and let yourself get all worked up. Remaining at rest, remaining in peace, keeping your joy, keeping a smile on your face, that’s all part of fighting the good fight of faith as well. Rest in God!

October 22

Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. (Habakkuk 3:18 NIV)

Make a decision to rejoice! Make a decision to live in an attitude of gratitude and joyfulness! Happiness is not just going to fall on us. It’s a choice we make. We have to make that decision daily.

October 23

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow? What IS your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

(James 4:14-15)

Sometimes, if you don’t keep things stirred up, God will stir things for you. When somebody leaves your life or a relationship is over—whether it is a business partner, a friend, a neighbor, or a coworker who parts company – don’t get upset. Don’t try to talk them into saying. Let God do the new thing.

October 24

The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.

(Proverbs 20:7 NIV)

The things that we don’t overcome, the issues we leave on the table, so to speak, will be passed down for the next generation to deal with. A person’s good habits as well as the poor choices—the addictions, bad attitudes, and wrong mind-sets – all are passed down.

October 25

Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of his pasture.

(Psalm 100:3 AMP)

Decide today you will speak only positive affirmations about yourself. You may have a thousand bad habits, but don’t let another critical word come out of your mouth toward yourself. Use your words to bless your life. Look in that mirror and call in what you need. The image of your life must change on the inside before it can change on the outside.

October 26

We live by faith, not by sight.  2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)

“We walk by faith, not by sight.” If you can see everything happening, you don’t really need any faith. But when you have nothing to stand on in the natural, yet still you begin acting like God’s Word is true, being positive and hopeful, you are putting actions behind your faith. This gets God’s attention – this causes Him to work supernaturally in your life. We go from believing to expecting to reaping!

October 27

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.  Colossians 3:2 (AMP)

The higher things are the positive things, so first thing each day, set your mind in the right direction. Set your mind on success and victory, on health and healing. Set your mind on enjoying this day that the Lord has made!

October 28

Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until He comes and showers righteousness on you.  Hosea 10:12 (NIV)

Remember that you have seeds of greatness in you. You weren’t made to just exist, do nothing; rise out of complacency; keep growing, keep reaching for new heights. Seek the Lord and know that your best days are still ahead of you!

October 29

He does not take His eyes off the righteous; He enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever.

Job 36:7 (NIV)

God promises to continually watch over us and care for us. He promises to exalt and promote us. He may have done wonders in the past, but you haven’t seen anything yet. The best is yet to come. Keep dreaming, believing, and planning for new projects, experiences, and adventures with God.

October 30

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

You didn’t just show up on planet Earth by accident. You were handpicked by Almighty God. He saw you before you were formed in your mother’s womb and placed you here for a reason.   He has a plan and a purpose for your life, something only you can  accomplish. Seek Him – uncover His perfect will for your life.

October 31

This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God….1 John 4:2 (NIV)

Continually remind yourself that you have a gift on the inside. You are talented creative, called by God. That’s exactly why the enemy is trying to discourage you, to keep your gifts, your creativity, your joy, your smile, your personality, your dreams from ever seeing the light of day. He would love for them to lie dormant your whole lifetime. Thank God, the Word says He always causes us to triumph!
