The History of Victory to Victory Church
Pastor John Hagger III is the founder and pastor of Victory to Victory Church.
Prior to starting Victory to Victory Church, Pastor John Hagger III was a fulltime businessman in Houston, Texas as president and founder of Houston Town Car Service.
Victory to Victory Church is a 21st century, family-oriented, Bible-based church designed to help people know that “God always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus” (II Corinthians 2:14) and is here today due to that vision. The Lord showed John Hagger III a vision of a place with a lot of acreage and buildings.
The Lord told him, “it was in the Golden Triangle and when he saw it, he would know it”. John Hagger III searched down the coast of Port Arthur to Bridge City, and from there, worked the interior. The weekend searching lasted for about a year. Finally, in Beaumont, he found 4.8 acres of land in Jefferson County on the west side of Beaumont.
He thought he would have to build the church in his vision, but as it turned out there was already a church that was occupied with an existing congregation. He contacted the Pastor and gave him his testimony, telling him what God had revealed to him. The current Pastor informed Pastor Hagger the place was not for sale, but after carefully seeking the Lord, the Pastor knew this was God’s plan and consented to release the church to Pastor Hagger.
The first service was held December 9, 1990 and consisted of about fifty (50) friends and relatives. The church was started on faith and was started with no members, no backers and no promise for funding. Pastor Hagger’s business, “Houston Town Car Service”, subsidized the Church for close to two years.
Pastor Hagger in December 1992 sold his Houston business (which he owned since 1982) and went fulltime to Pastoring Victory to Victory Church. His wife Evelyn followed suit and in February 1993 gave up a 19 year career as a Documentation Analyst at Houston Lighting & Power Company.
